This held true for the North part. Our trip back to Fakarava was awesome! We balanced pretty well so we didn’t have to steer too much. The only problem was that we went way too fast. It was fun, but while it took us about 36 hours to sail from Fakarava to Tahanea, it only took 13 hours the other way. That meant we arrived at the pass at 1:30am. So we had to kill four or five hours before going through the pass. We hove to (which is kind of like putting it in park, but we are still moving with the current) and waited for dawn.
When we arrived back at Rotoava, Fakarava, we still were not sure what our plans were. We considered making a run to the store and leaving on the next tide. Ultimately we stayed and started working on some boat projects. We had wanted to replace some of the Treadmaster decking material at Tahanea, but the weather was not conducive for that work. At Fakarava the weather was perfect for this, so we commenced work.
I don't know how old this Treadmaster is, but it has been rapidly disintegrating since we left San Diego. |
The new Treadmaster is an amazing improvement! I can't wait to get the rest of the squares changed out! |
